Proverbs 19
3The folly of a man spoils his ways: 1 And he blames God in his heart. 1
4Wealth acquires many friends; 1 But the poor is deserted even of the friend he has. 1
5A false witness shall not be unpunished, 1 And he that accuses unjustly shall not escape. 1
6Many court the favor of kings; 1 But every bad man becomes a reproach to another man. 1
7Every one who hates his poor brother 1 Shall also be far from friendship. 1 Good understanding will draw near to them that know it, 1 And a sensible man will find it. 1 He that does much harm perfects mischief; 1 And he that uses provoking words shall not escape. 1
8He that procures wisdom loves himself; 1 And he that keeps wisdom shall find good. 1
9A false witness shall not be unpunished; 1 And whosoever shall kindle mischief shall perish by it. 1
10Delight does not suit a fool, 1 Nor is it seemly if a servant should begin to rule with haughtiness. 1
11A merciful man is long-suffering; 1 And his triumph overtakes transgressors. 1
12The threatening of a king is like the roaring of a lion; 1 But as dew on the grass, so is his favor. 1
13A foolish son is a disgrace to his father: 1 Vows paid out of the hire of a harlot are not pure. 1
14Fathers divide house and substance to their children: 1 But a wife is suited to a man by the Lord. 1
15Cowardice possesses the effeminate man; 1 And the soul of the sluggard shall hunger. 1
16He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul; 1 But he that despises his ways shall perish. 1
17He that has pity on the poor lends to the Lord; 1 And he will recompense to him according to his gift. 1
18Chasten thy son, for so he shall be hopeful; 1 And be not exalted in thy soul to haughtiness. 1
19A malicious man shall be severely punished, 1 And if he commit injury, he shall also lose his life. 1
20Hear, son, the instruction of thy father, 1 That thou mayest be wise at thy latter end. 1
21There are many thoughts in a man’s heart; 1 But the counsel of the Lord abides forever. 1
22Mercy is a fruit to a man: 1 And a poor man is better than a rich liar. 1
23The fear of the Lord is life to a man: 1 And he shall lodge without fear in places where knowledge is not seen. 1
24He that unjustly hides his hands in his bosom, 1 Will not even bring them up to his mouth. 1
25When a pestilent character is scourged, a simple man is made wiser: 1 And if thou reprove a wise man, he will understand discretion. 1
26He that dishonors his father, and drives away his mother, 1 Shall be disgraced and shall be exposed to reproach. 1
27A son who ceases to attend to the instruction of a father 1 Will cherish evil designs. 1
28He that becomes surety for a foolish child will despise the ordinance: 1 And the mouth of ungodly men shall drink down judgments. 1
29Scourges are preparing for the intemperate, 1 And punishments likewise for fools.
