Job 10
Weary in my soul, 1 I will pour my words with groans upon him: 1 I will speak being straitened in the bitterness of my soul. 1
And I will say to the Lord, Do not teach me to be impious; 1 And wherefore hast thou thus judged me? 1
Is it good before thee if I be unrighteous? 1 For thou hast disowned the work of thy hands, 1 And attended to the counsel of the ungodly. 1
Or dost thou see as a mortal sees? 1 Or wilt thou look as a man sees? 1
Or is thy life human, 1 Or thy years the years of a man, 1
That thou hast inquired into mine iniquity, 1 And searched out my sins? 1
For thou knowest that I have not committed iniquity: 1 But who is he that can deliver out of thy hands? 1
Thy hands have formed me and made me; 1 Afterward thou didst change thy mind, and smite me. 1
Remember that thou hast made me as clay, 1 And thou dost turn me again to earth. 1
Hast thou not poured me out like milk, 1 And curdled me like cheese? 1
And thou didst clothe me with skin and flesh, 1 And frame me with bones and sinews. 1
And thou didst bestow upon me life and mercy, 1 And thy oversight has preserved my spirit. 1
Having these things in thyself, I know that thou canst do all things; 1 For nothing is impossible with thee. 1
And if I should sin, thou watchest me; 1 And thou hast not cleared me from iniquity. 1
Or if I should be ungodly, woe is me: 1 And if I should be righteous, I cannot lift myself up, 1 For I am full of dishonor. 1
For I am hunted like a lion for slaughter; 1 For again thou hast changed and art terribly destroying me; 1
Renewing against me my torture: 1 And thou hast dealt with me in great anger, 1 And thou hast brought trials upon me. 1
Why then didst thou bring me out of the womb? 1 And why did I not die, and no eye see me, 1
And I become as if I had not been? 1 For why was I not carried from the womb to the grave? 1
Is not the time of my life short? 1 Suffer me to rest a little, 1
Before I go whence I shall not return, 1 To a land of darkness and gloominess; 1
To a land of perpetual darkness, where there is no light, 1 Neither can anyone see the life of mortals.
