Job 22
1Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, 1
2Is it not the Lord that teaches understanding and knowledge? 1
3For what matters it to the Lord, if thou wert blameless in thy works? 1 Or is it profitable that thou shouldest perfect thy way? 1
4Wilt thou maintain and plead thine own cause? 1 And will he enter into judgment with thee? 1
5Is not thy wickedness abundant, 1 And thy sins innumerable? 1
6And thou hast taken security of thy brethren for nothing, 1 And hast taken away the clothing of the naked. 1
7Neither hast thou given water to the thirsty to drink, 1 But hast taken away the morsel of the hungry. 1
8And thou hast accepted the persons of some; 1 And thou hast established those that were already settled on the earth. 1
9But thou hast sent widows away empty, 1 And hast afflicted orphans. 1
10Therefore snares have compassed thee, 1 And disastrous war has troubled thee. 1
11The light has proved darkness to thee, 1 And water has covered thee on thy lying down. 1
12Does not he that dwells in the high places observe? 1 And has he not brought down the proud? 1
13And thou hast said, What does the Mighty One know? 1 Does he judge in the dark? 1
14A cloud is his hiding place, and he shall not be seen; 1 And he passes through the circle of heaven. 1
15Wilt thou not mark the old way, 1 Which righteous men have trodden? 1
16Who were seized before their time: 1 Their foundations are as an overflowing stream. 1
17Who say, What will the Lord do to us? 1 Or what will the Almighty bring upon us? 1
18Yet he filled their houses with good things: 1 But the counsel of the wicked is far from him. 1
19The righteous have seen it, and laughed, 1 And the blameless one has derided them. 1
20Verily their substance has been utterly destroyed, 1 And the fire shall devour what is left of their property. 1
21Be firm, I pray thee, if thou canst endure; 1 Then thy fruit shall prosper. 1
22And receive a declaration from his mouth, 1 And lay up his words in thy heart. 1
23And if thou shalt turn and humble thyself before the Lord, 1 Thou hast thus removed unrighteousness far from thy habitation. 1
24Thou shalt lay up for thyself treasure in a heap on the rock; 1 And Ophir shall be as the rock of the torrent. 1
25So the Almighty shall be thy helper from enemies, 1 And he shall bring thee forth pure as silver that has been tried by fire. 1
26Then shalt thou have boldness before the Lord, 1 Looking up cheerfully to heaven. 1
27And he shall hear thee when thou prayest to him, 1 And he shall grant thee power to pay thy vows. 1
28And he shall establish to thee again a habitation of righteousness 1 And there shall be light upon thy paths. 1
29Because thou hast humbled thyself; and thou shalt say, Man has behaved proudly, 1 But he shall save him that is of lowly eyes. 1
30He shall deliver the innocent, 1 And do thou save thyself by thy pure hands.
