Job 21
1But Job answered and said, 1
2Hear ye, hear ye my words, 1 That I may not have this consolation from you. 1
3Raise me, and I will speak; 1 Then ye shall not laugh me to scorn. 1
4What! is my reproof of man? 1 And why should I not be angry? 1
5Look upon me, and wonder, 1 Laying your hand upon your cheek. 1
6For even when I remember, I am alarmed, 1 And pains seize my flesh. 1
7Wherefore do the ungodly live, 1 And grow old even in wealth? 1
8Their seed is according to their desire, 1 And their children are in their sight. 1
9Their houses are prosperous, neither have they anywhere cause for fear, 1 Neither is there a scourge from the Lord upon them. 1
10Their cow does not cast her calf, 1 And their beast with young is safe, and does not miscarry. 1
11And they remain as an unfailing flock, 1 And their children play before them, 1 Taking up the psaltery and harp; 1
12And they rejoice at the voice of a song. 1
13And they spend their days in wealth, 1 And fall asleep in the rest of the grave. 1
14Yet such a man says to the Lord, Depart from me; 1 I desire not to know thy ways. 1
15What is the Mighty One, that we should serve him? 1 And what profit is there that we should approach him? 1
16For their good things were in their hands, 1 But he regards not the works of the ungodly. 1
17Nevertheless, the lamp of the ungodly also shall be put out, 1 And destruction shall come upon them, 1 And pangs of vengeance shall seize them. 1
18And they shall be as chaff before the wind, 1 Or as dust which the storm has taken up. 1
19Let his substance fail to supply his children: 1 God shall recompense him, and he shall know it. 1
20Let his eyes see his own destruction, 1 And let him not be saved by the Lord. 1
21For his desire is in his house with him, 1 And the number of his months has been suddenly cut off. 1
22Is it not the Lord who teaches understanding and knowledge? 1 And does not he judge murders? 1
23One shall die in his perfect strength, 1 And wholly at ease and prosperous; 1
24And his innards are full of fat, 1 And his marrow is diffused throughout him. 1
25And another dies in bitterness of soul, 1 Not eating any good thing. 1
26But they lie down in the earth together, 1 And corruption covers them. 1
27So I know you, that ye presumptuously attack me: 1
28So that ye will say, Where is the house of the prince? 1 And where is the covering of the tabernacles of the ungodly? 1
29Ask those that go by the way, 1 And do not disown their tokens. 1
30For the wicked hastens to the day of destruction: 1 They shall be led away for the day of his vengeance. 1
31Who will tell him his way to his face, whereas he has done it? 1 Who shall recompense him? 1
32And he has been led away to the tombs, 1 And he has watched over the heaps. 1
33The stones of the valley have been sweet to him, 1 And every man shall depart after him, 1 And there are innumerable ones before him. 1
34How then do ye comfort me in vain? 1 Whereas I have no rest from your molestation.
