Job 42
1Then Job answered and said to the Lord, 1
2I know that thou canst do all things, 1 And nothing is impossible with thee. 1
3For who is he that hides counsel from thee? 1 Or who keeps back his words, and thinks to hide them from thee? 1 And who will tell me what I knew not, 1 Great and wonderful things which I understood not? 1
4But hear me, O Lord, that I also may speak: 1 And I will ask thee, and do thou teach me. 1
5I have heard the report of thee by the ear before; 1 But now mine eye has seen thee. 1
6Wherefore I have counted myself vile, and have fainted: 1 And I esteem myself dust and ashes. 1
7And it came to pass after the Lord had spoken all these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, 1 Thou hast sinned, and thy two friends: 1 For ye have not said anything true before me, 1 As my servant Job has. 1
8Now then take seven bullocks, and seven rams, 1 And go to my servant Job, 1 And he shall offer a burnt offering for you. 1 And my servant Job shall pray for you, 1 For I will only accept him: 1 For but for his sake, I would have destroyed you, 1 For ye have not spoken the truth against my servant Job. 1
9So Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Minaean, 1 Went and did as the Lord commanded them: 1 And he pardoned their sin for the sake of Job. 1
10And the Lord prospered Job: 1 And when he prayed also for his friends, he forgave them their sin: 1 And the Lord gave Job twice as much, even the double of what he had before. 1
11And all his brethren and his sisters heard 1 All that had happened to him, 1 And they came to him, 1 And so did all that had known him from the first: 1 And they ate and drank with him, and comforted him, 1 And wondered at all that the Lord had brought upon him: 1 And each one gave him a lamb, and four drachma’s weight of gold, even of unstamped gold. 1
12And the Lord blessed the latter end of Job, more than the beginning: 1 And his cattle were fourteen thousand sheep, 1 Six thousand camels, 1 A thousand yoke of oxen, 1 A thousand she-asses of the pastures. 1
13And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters. 1
14And he called the first, Day, 1 And the second, Keziah, 1 And the third, Amalthaea’s horn. 1
15And there were not found in comparison with the daughters of Job, fairer women than they in all the world: 1 And their father gave them an inheritance among their brethren. 1
16And Job lived after his affliction a hundred and seventy years: 1 And all the years he lived were two hundred and forty: 1 And Job saw his sons and his sons’ sons, the fourth generation. 1
17e And his friends who came to him were 1 Eliphaz, of the children of Esau, king of the Temanites, 1 Bildad sovereign of the Shuhites, 1 Zophar king of the Naamathites.
