Job 34
1And Elihu continued, and said, 1
2Hear me, ye wise men; 1 Hearken, ye that have knowledge. 1
3For the ear tries words, 1 And the mouth tastes meat. 1
4Let us choose judgment to ourselves: 1 Let us know among ourselves what is right. 1
5For Job has said, I am righteous: 1 The Lord has removed my judgment. 1
6And he has erred in my judgment: 1 My wound is severe without unrighteousness of mine. 1
7What man is as Job, 1 Drinking scorning like water? 1
8Saying, I have not sinned, nor committed ungodliness, 1 Nor had fellowship with workers of iniquity, 1 To go with the ungodly. 1
9For thou shouldest not say, There shall be no visitation of a man, 1 Whereas there is a visitation on him from the Lord. 1
10Wherefore hear me, ye that are wise in heart: 1 Far be it from me to sin before the Lord, 1 And to pervert righteousness before the Almighty. 1
11Yea, he renders to a man accordingly as each of them does, 1 And in a man’s path he will find him. 1
12And thinkest thou that the Lord will do wrong, 1 Or will the Almighty who made the earth wrest judgment? 1
13And who is he that made the whole world under heaven, 1 And all things therein? 1
14For if he would confine, 1 And restrain his spirit with himself; 1
15All flesh would die together, 1 And every mortal would return to the earth, whence also he was formed. 1
16Take heed lest he rebuke thee: 1 Hear this, hearken to the voice of words. 1
17Behold then the one that hates iniquities, 1 And that destroys the wicked, 1 Who is forever just. 1
18He is ungodly that says to a king, Thou art a transgressor, 1 That says to princes, O most ungodly one. 1
19Such a one as would not reverence the face of an honorable man, 1 Neither knows how to give honor to the great, 1 So that their persons should be respected. 1
20But it shall turn out vanity to them, to cry and beseech a man; 1 For they dealt unlawfully, the poor being turned aside from their right. 1
21For he surveys the works of men, 1 And nothing of what they do has escaped him. 1
22Neither shall there be a place for the workers of iniquity to hide themselves. 1
23For he will not lay upon a man more than right. 1
24For the Lord looks down upon all men, 1 Who comprehends unsearchable things, 1 Glorious also and excellent things without number. 1
25Who discovers their works, 1 And will bring night about upon them, and they shall be brought low. 1
26And he quite destroys the ungodly, 1 For they are seen before him. 1
27Because they turned aside from the law of God, 1 And did not regard his ordinances, 1
28So as to bring before him the cry of the needy; 1 For he will hear the cry of the poor. 1
29And he will give quiet, and who will condemn? 1 And he will hide his face, and who shall see him? 1 Whether it be done against a nation, or against a man also: 1
30Causing a hypocrite to be king, because of the waywardness of the people. 1
31For there is one that says to the Mighty One, I have received blessings; I will not take a pledge: 1
32I will see apart from myself: 1 Do thou show me if I have done unrighteousness; 1 I will not do so anymore. 1
33Will he take vengeance for it on thee, 1 Whereas thou wilt put it far from thee? 1 For thou shalt choose, and not I; 1 And what thou knowest, speak thou. 1
34Because the wise in heart shall say this, 1 And a wise man listens to my word. 1
35But Job has not spoken with understanding, 1 His words are not uttered with knowledge. 1
36Howbeit do thou learn, Job: 1 No longer make answer as the foolish: 1
37That we add not to our sins: 1 For iniquity will be reckoned against us, 1 If we speak many words before the Lord.
