Job 17
I perish, carried away by the wind, 1 And I seek for burial, and obtain it not. 1
Weary I entreat; and what have I done? 1 And strangers have stolen my goods. 1
Who is this? let him join hands with me. 1
For thou hast hidden their heart from wisdom; 1 Therefore thou shalt not exalt them. 1
He shall promise mischief to his companions: 1 But their eyes have failed for their children. 1
But thou hast made me a byword among the nations, 1 And I am become a scorn to them. 1
For my eyes are dimmed through pain; 1 I have been grievously beset by all. 1
Wonder has seized true men upon this; 1 And let the just rise up against the transgressor. 1
But let the faithful hold on his own way, 1 And let him that is pure of hands take courage. 1
Howbeit, do ye all strengthen yourselves and come now, 1 For I do not find truth in you. 1
My days have passed in groaning, 1 And my heartstrings are broken. 1
I have turned the night into day: 1 The light is short because of darkness. 1
For if I remain, Hades is my habitation: 1 And my bed has been made in darkness. 1
I have called upon death to be my father, 1 And corruption to be my mother and sister. 1
Where then is yet my hope? 1 Or where shall I see my good? 1
Will they go down with me to Hades, 1 Or shall we go down together to the tomb?
