Job 12
1And Job answered and said, 1
2So then ye alone are men, 1 And wisdom shall die with you? 1
3But I also have a heart as well as you. 1
4For a righteous and blameless man has become a subject for mockery. 1
5For it had been ordained that he should fall under others at the appointed time, 1 And that his houses should be spoiled by transgressors: 1 Let not however anyone trust that, being evil, he shall be held guiltless, 1
6Even as many as provoke the Lord, 1 As if there were indeed to be no inquisition made of them. 1
7But ask now the beasts, if they may speak to thee; 1 And the birds of the air, if they may declare to thee. 1
8Tell the earth, if it may speak to thee: 1 And the fish of the sea shall explain to thee. 1
9Who then has not known in all these things, 1 That the hand of the Lord has made them? 1
10Whereas the life of all living things is in his hand, 1 And the breath of every man. 1
11For the ear tries words, 1 And the palate tastes meats. 1
12In length of time is wisdom, 1 And in long life knowledge. 1
13With him are wisdom and power, 1 With him counsel and understanding. 1
14If he should cast down, who will build up? 1 If he should shut up against men, who shall open? 1
15If he should withhold the water, he will dry the earth: 1 And if he should let it loose, he overthrows and destroys it. 1
16With him are strength and power: 1 He has knowledge and understanding. 1
17He leads counselors away captive, 1 And maddens the judges of the earth. 1
18He seats kings upon thrones, 1 And girds their loins with a girdle. 1
19He sends away priests into captivity, 1 And overthrows the mighty ones of the earth. 1
20He changes the lips of the trustworthy, 1 And he knows the understanding of the elders. 1
21He pours dishonor upon princes, 1 And heals the lowly. 1
22Revealing deep things out of darkness: 1 And he has brought into light the shadow of death. 1
23Causing the nations to wander, and destroying them: 1 Overthrowing the nations, and leading them away. 1
24Perplexing the minds of the princes of the earth: 1 And he causes them to wander in a way they have not known, saying, 1
25Let them grope in darkness, and let there be no light, 1 And let them wander as a drunken man.
