Psalms 21
For the end, concerning the morning aid, a Psalm of David. 1
O God, my God, attend to me: why hast thou forsaken me? 1 The account of my transgressions is far from my salvation. 1
O my God, I will cry to thee by day, but thou wilt not hear: 1 And by night, and it shall not be accounted for folly to me. 1
But thou, the praise of Israel, dwellest in a sanctuary. 1
Our fathers hoped in thee; 1 They hoped, and thou didst deliver them. 1
They cried to thee, and were saved: 1 They hoped in thee, and were not ashamed. 1
But I am a worm, and not a man; 1 A reproach of men, and scorn of the people. 1
All that saw me mocked me: 1 They spoke with their lips, they shook the head, saying, 1
He hoped in the Lord: let him deliver him, 1 Let him save him, because he takes pleasure in him. 1
For thou art he that drew me out of the womb; 1 My hope from my mother’s breasts. 1
I was cast on thee from the womb: 1 Thou art my God from my mother’s belly. 1
Stand not aloof from me; for affliction is near; 1 For there is no helper. 1
Many bullocks have compassed me: 1 Fat bulls have beset me round. 1
They have opened their mouth against me, 1 As a ravening and roaring lion. 1
I am poured out like water, 1 And all my bones are loosened: 1 My heart in the midst of my belly is become like melting wax. 1
My strength is dried up like a potsherd; 1 And my tongue is glued to my throat; 1 And thou hast brought me down to the dust of death. 1
For many dogs have compassed me: 1 The assembly of the wicked doers has beset me round: 1 They pierced my hands and my feet. 1
They counted all my bones; 1 And they observed and looked upon me. 1
They parted my garments among themselves, 1 And cast lots upon my raiment. 1
But thou, O Lord, remove not my help afar off: 1 Be ready for mine aid. 1
Deliver my soul from the sword; 1 My only begotten one from the power of the dog. 1
Save me from the lion’s mouth; 1 And regard my lowliness from the horns of the unicorns. 1
I will declare thy name to my brethren: 1 In the midst of the church will I sing praise to thee. 1
Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; 1 All ye seed of Jacob, glorify him: 1 Let all the seed of Israel fear him. 1
For he has not despised nor been angry at the supplication of the poor; 1 Nor turned away his face from me; 1 But when I cried to him, he heard me. 1
My praise is of thee in the great congregation: 1 I will pay my vows before them that fear him. 1
The poor shall eat and be satisfied; 1 And they shall praise the Lord that seek him: 1 Their heart shall live forever. 1
All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord: 1 And all the kindred of the nations shall worship before him. 1
For the kingdom is the Lord’s; 1 And he is the governor of the nations. 1
All the fat ones of the earth have eaten and worshiped: 1 All that go down to the earth shall fall down before him: 1 My soul also lives to him. 1
And my seed shall serve him: 1 The generation that is coming shall be reported to the Lord. 1
And they shall report his righteousness 1 To the people that shall be born, whom the Lord has made.
