Psalms 3

A Psalm of David, when he fled from the presence of his son Absalom. 1

O Lord, why are they that afflict me multiplied? 1 Many rise up against me. 1

Many say concerning my soul, 1 There is no deliverance for him in his God. Pause. 1

But thou, O Lord, art my helper: 1 My glory, and the one that lifts up my head. 1

I cried to the Lord with my voice, 1 And he heard me out of his holy mountain. Pause. 1

I lay down and slept; 1 I awoke; for the Lord will help me. 1

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, 1 Who beset me round about. 1

Arise, Lord; deliver me, my God: 1 For thou hast smitten all who were without cause mine enemies; 1 Thou hast broken the teeth of sinners. 1

Deliverance is the Lord’s, 1 And thy blessing is upon thy people.
