Psalms 102

Hear my prayer, Yahweh; 1 hear my cry to you. 1

Do not hide your face from me in my time of trouble. 1 Listen to me. 1 When I call out to you, answer me quickly. 1

For my days pass away like smoke, 1 and my bones burn like fire. 1

My heart is crushed, and I am like grass that has withered. 1 I forget to eat any food. 1

With my continual groaning, 1 I have become very thin. 1

I am like a pelican of the wilderness; 1 I have become like an owl in the ruins. 1

I lie awake like a solitary bird, 1 alone on the housetop. 1

My enemies taunt me all day long; 1 those who mock me use my name in curses. 1

I eat ashes like bread 1 and mix my drink with tears. 1

Because of your raging anger, 1 you have lifted me up to throw me down. 1

My days are like a shadow that fades, 1 and I have withered like grass. 1

But you, Yahweh, live forever, 1 and your fame is for all generations. 1

You will rise up and have mercy on Zion. 1 Now is the time to have mercy upon her; 1 the appointed time has come. 1

For your servants hold her stones dear 1 and feel compassion for the dust of her ruins. 1

The nations will respect your name, Yahweh, 1 and all the kings of the earth will honor your glory. 1

Yahweh will rebuild Zion 1 and will appear in his glory. 1

At that time, he will respond to the prayer of the destitute; 1 he will not reject their prayer. 1

This will be written for future generations, 1 and a people not yet born will praise Yahweh. 1

For he has looked down from the holy heights; 1 from heaven Yahweh has viewed the earth, 1

to hear the groaning of the prisoners, 1 to release those who were condemned to death. 1

Then men will proclaim the name of Yahweh in Zion 1 and his praise in Jerusalem 1

when the peoples and kingdoms gather together 1 to serve Yahweh. 1

He has taken away my strength in the middle of life. 1 He has shortened my days. 1

I said, “My God, do not take me away in the middle of life; 1 you are here throughout all generations. 1

In ancient times you set the earth in place; 1 the heavens are the work of your hands. 1

They will perish, but you will remain; 1 they will all grow old like a garment; 1 like clothing, you will remove them, and they will disappear. 1

But you are the same, 1 and your years will have no end. 1

The children of your servants will live on, 1 and their descendants will live in your presence.”
