1When Israel left Egypt, 1 the house of Jacob from a people who spoke a foreign language, 1

2Judah became his holy place, 1 Israel his kingdom. 1

3The sea looked and fled; 1 the Jordan turned back. 1

4The mountains skipped like rams, 1 the hills skipped like lambs. 1

5Why did you flee, sea? 1 Jordan, why did you turn back? 1

6Mountains, why did you skip like rams? 1 You little hills, why did you skip like lambs? 1

7Tremble, earth, before the Lord, 1 at the presence of the God of Jacob. 1

8He turned the rock into a pool of water, 1 the hard rock into a spring of water.
