Psalms 107
Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, 1 and his covenant faithfulness endures forever. 1
Let the redeemed of Yahweh speak out, 1 those he has rescued from the hand of the enemy. 1
He has gathered them out of foreign lands, 1 from the east and from the west, 1 from the north and from the south. 1
They wandered in the wilderness on a desert road 1 and found no city in which to live. 1
Because they were hungry and thirsty, 1 they fainted from exhaustion. 1
Then they called out to Yahweh in their trouble, 1 and he rescued them out of their distress. 1
He led them by a direct path 1 so that they would go to a city to live in. 1
Oh that people would praise Yahweh for his covenant faithfulness 1 and for the amazing things he has done for humanity! 1
For he satisfies the longings of those who are thirsty, 1 and the desires of those who are hungry he fills up with good things. 1
Some sat in darkness and in gloom, 1 prisoners in affliction and chains. 1
This was because they had rebelled against God's word 1 and rejected the instruction of the Most High. 1
He humbled their hearts through hardship; 1 they stumbled and there was no one to help them up. 1
Then they called out to Yahweh in their trouble, 1 and he brought them out of their distress. 1
He brought them out of darkness and gloom 1 and broke their bonds. 1
Oh that people would praise Yahweh for his covenant faithfulness 1 and for the amazing things he has done for humanity! 1
For he has broken the gates of bronze 1 and cut through the bars of iron. 1
They were foolish in their rebellious ways 1 and afflicted because of their sins. 1
They lost their desire to eat any food, 1 and they came close to the gates of death. 1
Then they called out to Yahweh in their trouble, 1 and he brought them out of their distress. 1
He sent his word and healed them, 1 and he rescued them from their destruction. 1
Oh that people would praise Yahweh for his covenant faithfulness 1 and for the amazing things he has done for humanity! 1
Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving 1 and proclaim his deeds in singing. 1
Some travel on the sea in ships 1 and do business overseas. 1
These saw the deeds of Yahweh 1 and his wonders on the seas. 1
For he commanded and aroused the windstorm 1 that stirs up the seas. 1
They reached up to the sky; they went down to the depths. 1 Their lives melted away in distress. 1
They swayed and staggered like drunkards 1 and were at their wits' end. 1
Then they called out to Yahweh in their trouble, 1 and he brought them out of their distress. 1
He calmed the storm, 1 and the waves were stilled. 1
Then they rejoiced because the sea was calm, 1 and he brought them to their desired harbor. 1
Oh that people would praise Yahweh for his covenant faithfulness 1 and for the amazing things he has done for humanity! 1
Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people 1 and praise him in the council of the elders. 1
He turns rivers into a wilderness, 1 springs of water into dry land, 1
and a fruitful land into a barren place 1 because of the wickedness of its people. 1
He turns the wilderness into a pool of water 1 and dry land into springs of water. 1
He settles the hungry there, 1 and they build a city to live in. 1
They build a city to plant fields in, to plant vineyards, 1 and to bring in an abundant harvest. 1
He blesses them so they are very numerous. 1 He does not let their cattle decrease in number. 1
They were diminished and brought low 1 by painful distress and suffering. 1
He pours contempt on the leaders 1 and causes them to wander in the wilderness, where there are no roads. 1
But he protects the needy from affliction 1 and cares for his families like a flock. 1
The upright will see this and rejoice, 1 and all wickedness shuts its mouth. 1
Whoever is wise should take note of these things 1 and meditate on Yahweh's acts of covenant faithfulness.
