Psalms 2
Why are the nations in turmoil, 1 and why do the peoples make plots that will fail? 1
The kings of the earth take their stand together 1 and the rulers conspire together 1 against Yahweh and against his Messiah, saying, 1
“Let us tear off the shackles they put on us 1 and throw off their chains.” 1
He who sits in the heavens will sneer at them; 1 the Lord mocks them. 1
Then he will speak to them in his anger 1 and terrify them in his rage, saying, 1
“I myself have anointed my king 1 on Zion, my holy mountain.” 1
I will announce a decree of Yahweh. 1 He said to me, “You are my son! 1 This day I have become your father. 1
Ask me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance 1 and the farthermost regions of the earth for your possession. 1
You will break them with an iron rod; 1 like a jar of a potter, you will smash them to pieces.” 1
So now, you kings, be warned; 1 be corrected, you rulers of the earth. 1
Worship Yahweh in fear 1 and rejoice with trembling. 1
Kiss the son or he will be angry with you, 2 and you will die in the way when his anger burns for just a moment. 1 How blessed are all those who seek refuge in him.
