Psalms 94
Yahweh, God who avenges, 1 God who avenges, shine over us. 1
Rise up, judge of the earth, 1 give to the proud what they deserve. 1
How long will the wicked, Yahweh, 1 how long will the wicked rejoice? 1
They pour out their arrogant words; 1 all those who do evil boast. 1
They crush your people, Yahweh; 1 they afflict the nation that belongs to you. 1
They kill the widow and foreigner who lives in their country, 1 and they murder the fatherless. 1
They say, “Yahweh will not see, 1 the God of Jacob does not take notice of it.” 1
Understand, you stupid people! 1 You fools, when will you ever learn? 1
He who made the ear, does he not hear? 1 He who formed the eye, does he not see? 1
He who disciplines the nations, does he not correct? 1 He is the one who gives knowledge to man. 1
Yahweh knows the thoughts of men, 1 that they are vapor. 1
Blessed is the one whom you instruct, Yahweh, 1 the one whom you teach from your law. 1
You give him rest in times of trouble 1 until a pit is dug for the wicked. 1
For Yahweh will not forsake his people 1 or abandon his inheritance. 1
For judgment will again be righteous; 1 and all the upright in heart will follow it. 1
Who will rise up to defend me against the evildoers? 1 Who will stand up for me against the wicked? 1
Unless Yahweh had been my help, 1 I would soon be lying down in the place of silence. 1
When I said, “My foot is slipping,” 1 Your covenant faithfulness, Yahweh, held me up. 1
When cares within me are many, your consolations make me happy. 1
Can a throne of destruction be allied with you, 1 one who creates injustice by statute? 1
They conspire together to take the life of the righteous 1 and they condemn the innocent to death. 1
But Yahweh has been my high tower, 1 and my God has been the rock of my refuge. 1
He will bring on them their own iniquity 1 and will cut them off in their own wickedness. 1 Yahweh our God will cut them off.
