Psalms 36
An evil man speaks of his transgression from deep in his heart, 1 there is no fear of God in his eyes. 1
For he comforts himself, 1 thinking that his sin will not be discovered and be hated. 1
His words are sinful and deceitful; 1 he does not want to be wise and do good. 1
While he lies in bed, he plans ways to sin; 1 he sets out on an evil way; 1 he does not reject evil. 1
Your covenant faithfulness, Yahweh, reaches to the heavens; 1 your loyalty reaches to the clouds. 1
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; 1 your judgments are like the great deep. 1 Yahweh, you preserve both mankind and the animals. 1
How precious is your covenant faithfulness, God! 1 Humanity takes refuge under the shadow of your wings. 1
They feast upon the abundance of your house; 1 you let them drink from the river of your delights. 1
For with you is the fountain of life; 1 in your light we will see light. 1
Extend your covenant faithfulness fully to those who know you, 1 your defense to the upright of heart. 1
Do not let the foot of the arrogant man come near to me. 1 Do not let the hand of the wicked drive me away. 1
Over there the evildoers have fallen; 1 they are knocked down and are not able to get up.
