Psalms 97
1Yahweh reigns; let the earth rejoice; 1 let the many coastlands be glad. 1
2Clouds and darkness surround him. 1 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. 1
3Fire goes before him 1 and consumes his adversaries on every side. 1
4His lightning lights up the world; 1 the earth sees and trembles. 1
5The mountains melt like wax before Yahweh, 1 the Lord of the whole earth. 1
6The skies declare his justice, 1 and all the nations see his glory. 1
7All those who worship carved figures will be shamed, 1 those who boast in worthless idols— 1 bow down to him, all you gods! 1
8Zion heard and was glad, 1 and the towns of Judah rejoiced 1 because of your righteous decrees, Yahweh. 1
9For you, Yahweh, are most high above all the earth. 1 You are exalted far above all gods. 1
10You who love Yahweh, hate evil! 1 He protects the lives of his saints, 1 and he takes them out of the hand of the wicked. 1
11Light is sown for the righteous 1 and gladness for those with honest hearts. 1
12Be glad in Yahweh, you righteous; 1 and give thanks when you remember his holiness.
