Psalms 82

1God stands in the divine assembly; 1 in the midst of the gods he renders judgment. 1

2How long will you judge unjustly 1 and show favoritism to the wicked? Selah 1

3Defend the poor and fatherless; 1 maintain the rights of the afflicted and destitute. 1

4Rescue the poor and needy; 1 take them out of the hand of the wicked. 1

5They neither know nor understand; 1 they wander around in the darkness; 1 all the foundations of the earth crumble. 1

6I said, “You are gods, 1 and all of you sons of the Most High. 1

7Nevertheless you will die like men 1 and fall like one of the princes.” 1

8Arise, God, judge the earth, 1 for you have an inheritance in all the nations.
