Psalms 83
God, do not be silent! 1 Do not ignore us and remain unmoved, God. 1
Look, your enemies are making a commotion, 1 and those who hate you have raised their heads. 1
They conspire against your people 1 and plan together against your protected ones. 1
They have said, “Come, and let us destroy them as a nation. 1 Then the name of Israel will no longer be remembered.” 1
They have schemed together with one strategy; 1 against you they have made an alliance. 1
This includes the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, 1 and the people of Moab and the Hagrites, who plot together with
Gebal, Ammon, Amalek; 1 it also includes Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre. 1
Assyria also is allied with them; 1 they are helping the descendants of Lot. Selah 1
Do to them as you did to Midian, 1 as you did to Sisera and to Jabin at the Kishon River. 1
They perished at Endor 1 and became like manure for the earth. 1
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, 1 and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna. 1
They said, “Let us take for ourselves 1 the pastures of God.” 1
My God, make them like the whirling dust, 1 like chaff before the wind, 1
like the fire that burns the forest, 1 and like the flame that sets the mountains on fire. 1
Chase them with your strong wind, 1 and terrify them with your windstorm. 1
Fill their faces with shame 1 so that they might seek your name, Yahweh. 1
May they be put to shame and be terrified forever; 1 may they perish in disgrace. 1
Then they will know that you alone, Yahweh, 1 are the Most High over all the earth.
