Psalms 90
Lord, you have been our refuge 1 throughout all generations. 1
Before the mountains were formed, 1 or you formed the earth and the world, 1 from everlasting to everlasting, you are God. 1
You return man to dust, 1 and you say, “Return, you descendants of mankind.” 1
For a thousand years in your sight 1 are as yesterday when it is past, 1 and as a watch in the night. 1
You sweep them away as with a flood and they sleep; 1 in the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up. 1
In the morning it blooms and grows up; 1 in the evening it withers and dries up. 1
Truly, we are consumed in your anger, 1 and in your wrath we are terrified. 1
You have set our iniquities before you, 1 our hidden sins in the light of your presence. 1
Our life passes away under your wrath; 1 our years quickly pass like a sigh. 1
Our years are seventy, 1 or even eighty if we are healthy; 1 but even our best years are marked by trouble and sorrow. 1 Yes, they pass quickly, and we fly away. 1
Who knows the intensity of your anger, 1 and your wrath that is equal to the fear of you? 1
So teach us to consider our life 1 so that we might live wisely. 1
Turn back, Yahweh! How long will it be? 1 Have pity on your servants. 1
Satisfy us in the morning with your covenant faithfulness 1 so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 1
Make us glad in proportion to the days you afflicted us 1 and to the years we have experienced trouble. 1
Let your servants see your work, 1 and let our children see your majesty. 1
May the favor of the Lord our God be ours; 1 prosper the work of our hands; 1 indeed, prosper the work of our hands.
