Psalms 5
1Listen to my call to you, Yahweh; 1 think about my groanings. 1
2Listen to the sound of my call, my King and my God, 1 for it is to you that I pray. 1
3Yahweh, in the morning you hear my cry; 1 in the morning I will bring my petition to you and wait expectantly. 1
4Certainly you are not a God who approves of evil; 1 evil people will not be your guests. 1
5The arrogant will not stand in your presence; 1 you hate all who behave wickedly. 1
6You will destroy liars; 1 Yahweh despises violent and deceitful men. 1
7But as for me, because of your great covenant faithfulness, I will come into your house; 1 in reverence I will bow down toward your holy temple. 1
8Oh Lord, lead me in your righteousness because of my enemies; 1 make your path straight before me. 1
9For there is no truth in their mouth; 1 their inward being is wicked; 1 their throat is an open tomb; 1 they flatter with their tongue. 1
10Declare them guilty, God; 1 may their schemes be their downfall! 1 Drive them out for their many transgressions, 1 for they have rebelled against you. 1
11But may all those who take refuge in you rejoice; 1 let them always shout for joy because you defend them; 1 let them be joyful in you, those who love your name. 1
12For you will bless the righteous, Yahweh; 1 you will surround them with favor as with a shield.
