Psalms 31
1In you, Yahweh, I take refuge; 1 never let me be humiliated. 1 Rescue me in your righteousness. 1
2Listen to me; rescue me quickly; 1 be my rock of refuge, 1 a stronghold to save me. 1
3For you are my rock and my fortress; 1 therefore for your name's sake, lead and guide me. 1
4Pluck me out of the net that they have hidden for me, 1 for you are my refuge. 1
5Into your hands I entrust my spirit; 1 you will redeem me, Yahweh, God of trustworthiness. 1
6I hate those who serve worthless idols, 1 but I trust in Yahweh. 1
7I will be glad and rejoice in your covenant faithfulness, 1 for you saw my affliction; 1 you knew the distress of my soul. 1
8You have not given me into the hand of my enemy. 1 You have set my feet in a wide open place. 1
9Have mercy upon me, Yahweh, for I am in distress; 1 my eyes grow weary with grief with my soul and my body. 1
10For my life is weary with sorrow 1 and my years with groaning. 1 My strength fails because of my sin, 1 and my bones are wasting away. 1
11Because of all my enemies, people disdain me; 1 my neighbors are appalled at my situation, 1 and those who know me are horrified. 1 Those who see me in the street run from me. 1
12I am forgotten as a dead man whom no one thinks about. 1 I am like a broken pot. 1
13For I have heard the whispering of many, 1 terrifying news from every side 1 as they plot together against me. 1 They plot to take away my life. 1
14But I trust in you, Yahweh; 1 I say, “You are my God.” 1
15My times are in your hand. 1 Rescue me from the hands of my enemies and from those who pursue me. 1
16Make your face shine on your servant; 1 save me in your covenant faithfulness. 1
17Do not let me be humiliated, Yahweh; for I call out to you! 1 May the wicked be humiliated! May they be silent in Sheol. 1
18May lying lips be silenced 1 that speak against the righteous defiantly 1 with arrogance and contempt. 1
19How great is your goodness 1 that you have stored up for those who revere you, 1 that you perform for those who take refuge in you 1 before all the children of mankind! 1
20In the shelter of your presence, you hide them from the plots of men. 1 You hide them in a shelter from the violence of tongues. 1
21Blessed be Yahweh, 1 for he showed me his marvelous covenant faithfulness when I was in a besieged city. 1
22Though I said in my haste, 1 “I am cut off from your eyes,” 1 yet you heard my plea for help 1 when I cried to you. 1
23Oh, love Yahweh, all you faithful followers. 1 Yahweh protects the faithful, 1 but he pays back the arrogant in full. 1
24Be strong and confident, 1 all you who trust in Yahweh for help.
