Psalms 124

1“If Yahweh had not been on our side,” 1 let Israel say now, 1

2“if it had not been Yahweh who was on our side 1 when men rose up against us, 1

3then they would have swallowed us up alive 1 when their anger raged against us. 1

4The water would have swept us away; 1 the torrent would have overwhelmed us. 1

5Then the raging waters would have drowned us.” 1

6Blessed be Yahweh, 1 who has not allowed us to be torn by their teeth. 1

7We have escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; 1 the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. 1

8Our help is in Yahweh, 1 who made heaven and earth.
